Take vistas across rolling hills, picturesque lakes, orange groves, then add a railroad line - something great is bound to happen over time. Todays Mount Dora is an architectural record of the homesteaders, business people and civic achievements that have been unfolding since the early 1850s.
Go ahead and dedicate the whole day and some of the evening for this trip, theres lots to do and see. Spending a night in Mount Dora offers many exciting choices from the historic Lakeside Inn, several victorian era guesthouses to modern mid-budget hotels just outside the historic downtown.
With eight public parking lots in the historic district and plenty of street parking, the only problem will be remembering where the car is. This is definetly a walking town with plenty of specialty shopping, an array of dining choices and people watching galore especially on the weekends.
If the usual shopping and lunch has gotten old Mount Dora offers Guided and self driven boat tours of Lake Dora and its canal connecting it to Lake Eustis including a sunset lake tour. Or you can ride a Hanson Cab from around town from the Lakesdie Inn, take an airboat flight around the lake area, or go on the “Paranormal Past” Ghost Tour of downtown and the Lakeside Inn. The Murder mystery dinner is alway an option as well.
The festival and event calendar for this town is jammed and some venues like th Polar Express Train require reservation a year in advance.

Welcome to my blog about nearby adventures that await Villagers ready to venture outside the bubble!
